What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese practice developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1920s. Its name joins two Japanese words: rei, often translated as "universal", and ki, "life energy". Practitioners believe they channel this universal life energy through their hands. In a session, the practitioner's hands rest lightly on, or just above, the body in a series of positions while you lie fully clothed. There's no massage and no manipulation: you simply rest. Anne Marie is a Reiki Master in the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition.
A session with Anne Marie
Reiki with Anne Marie: an hour that's yours. Lie down, fully clothed, while Anne Marie works with her hands resting lightly on, or just above, you, hands-on or hands-off as you prefer. A relaxing, meditative hour: a quiet space to let go, breathe and come back to yourself. Reiki is offered for emotional and spiritual well-being, and a sense of calm and balance. It complements, and never replaces, care from your doctor.
The tradition
- Reiki is a Japanese energy-healing practice; practitioners describe working with universal life energy, or ki.
- A quiet hour away from a stressful week.
- Anne Marie offers a calm, caring space, including in times of grief.
